About President Palin

Everyone’s talking about the risk of “President” Palin.  Does it matter?

Yes, but not the way you think.  Here’s what to do about Palin.

She’s not a good campaign issue.  The last controversial VP pick was Dan Quayle.  Lee Atwater, George Herbert Walker Bush’s Campaign Manager, said in a post election interview, November 1988:  “the Democrats spent a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of money trying to make Dan Quayle the driving issue in this campaign and I think they wasted time, effort, and money”

Sarah Palin’s not the driving issue for Obama campaign.  The economy, and John McCain’s old tired ideology that drove it into the ditch, is the driving issue.

What Sarah Palin is, is a fundraising lightning rod.

Fundraising is more crucial than ever.  The market crashed, so big money fundraising is going to dry up.  McCain gets $84 million in federal funds anyway.  So every contribution, no matter how big or small, matters.

How do we know Palin will be a fundraising gold mine?  James Watt.

In 1981 Ronald Reagan appointed Watt Secretary of the Interior.  Watt described his staff as a black, a woman, two Jews and a cripple.” Watt said we didn’t need to worry about the environment because the rapture was imminent.

The environmental community zeroed in on Watt to raise millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of new members.

Sarah Palin provides us with the same opportunity right now.

Are you scared to death that Sarah Palin might become President?

Give the Obama campaign what you can afford.  Then give more.
